How to get a commercial fire or security proposal without a site visit

4 min read Updated July 2026

The slowest part of getting a commercial fire, security, or camera system is often not the work. It is the wait for someone to come out, walk the building, and then eventually send a number. You can usually skip most of that. With the right information up front, we can often scope and price a commercial project from plans or photos and get you a real proposal without waiting on a site visit. Here is how.

Option one: you have drawings

If your project has engineered plans, that is the fastest path. Send us the drawing set and we bid to spec. For a fire alarm system that means we work from the design your engineer or architect produced, size the system, and come back with a proposal built to the documents an AHJ will hold you to.

Option two: you do not have drawings

Most existing buildings do not have current plans, and that is completely fine. For a takeover, an upgrade, or a security and camera project, we can usually work from photos and video you take on your phone:

  • Photos of the space, the existing panel or equipment, and the areas you want covered.
  • A short walkthrough video, narrated, showing the layout, entrances, and problem areas.
  • A few basics: rough square footage, number of floors, how the building is used, and what you are trying to accomplish.

Bottom line. Drawings are great, but they are not required. A set of photos and a two-minute walkthrough video is usually enough for us to put together a proposal you can use.

What happens after you send it

  • We review what you sent and follow up with any quick questions.
  • We confirm your project is in our Hudson Valley service area.
  • We scope the system and send back a proposal with a clear scope and one price.
  • Some jobs do need a site visit before we can finalize the price. If yours does, we will tell you up front.

Why we work this way

Pricing from plans and photos saves time on both sides. It usually gets a real number in front of you in days instead of weeks, it keeps a project from stalling while calendars line up, and it means a building three towns over is just as easy for us to quote as one down the street. When it is time to install, we come to the site. Until then, most jobs can be priced without anyone driving out.

Ready to try it? Start a request and send whatever you have, plans or photos, and we will take it from there.
