“He's reached out multiple times to make sure everything is running smoothly, which we very much appreciate as we did not have that communication with our previous provider… Definitely recommend!”
Commercial alarm monitoring, watched 24/7
Your fire and security alarms report to COPS Monitoring, a UL-listed central station staffed around the clock. If something needs fixing after, we handle it.
What happens when an alarm goes off at 2:14 AM
Here's how a typical break-in alarm plays out.
Every alarm goes to a UL-listed central station that's staffed 24/7. They call the people on your contact list first, so a mistyped code doesn't send the police. If it's real, they dispatch. If anything needs fixing afterward, we come out and fix it.
Many insurers ask whether your alarm is monitored, and some offer a discount for it. Check with your agent.
What the central station does with every signal
Your fire alarm panel reports three kinds of signal, and each one gets a different response.
Every signal goes to a UL-listed central station, staffed 24/7.
Burglar alarms go there too. See what happensAlarm
A device has detected a fire.
The fire department is dispatched right away, then your contact list is called.
Set off by a smoke detector, a pull station, or a sprinkler flow switch.
Supervisory
Part of the sprinkler system is shut off or tampered with.
You get a call, so it’s fixed before it matters.
Set off by a closed sprinkler valve or a tripped tamper switch.
Trouble

You’re notified, and we send a technician to fix it.
Set off by power loss, a low battery, or a lost phone or cell line.
We monitor fire and security alarms together

Frequently asked questions
Is monitoring handled in-house or by a third party?
Your fire and security signals are monitored 24/7 by COPS Monitoring, a UL-listed central station. We handle everything else, from service calls to inspections.
Do I have to replace equipment to switch monitoring to you?
Not if you have a Fire-Lite, Silent Knight, Potter, or Honeywell fire alarm panel. We reprogram it to report to our central station, then turn on the new monitoring and confirm it is receiving signals before the old account is closed. We plan the switch so there is no gap in monitoring. Have a different panel? Send us a photo and we will tell you your options, including a replacement quote.
Can I switch alarm companies?
Yes. Send us a photo of your panel and we will tell you your options. We plan the switch so there is no gap in monitoring: the new monitoring is turned on and tested with a live signal before your old account is cancelled, on your timeline.
What if someone sets the alarm off by mistake?
The central station calls the people on your contact list first, so a mistyped code does not send the police. If the alarm is real, they dispatch.
Can monitoring lower my insurance?
It can. Many insurers ask whether your alarm is monitored, and some offer a discount for it. Check with your agent.
